Perfume Hunting!

Perfume makes a woman so it's no wonder many of us continue buying perfume even when times are hard and money is short. Some become attached to one particular scent and feel that this is their 'signature' perfume whilst others simply feel that perfume is a simple way to feel attractive and alluring. senyumkenyit

Lately, many of us are tightening our belts due to the current economic situation. We are spending less on luxuries such as beauty products, make-up and perfume. Don’t despair for there are still some real bargains out there, particularly if you're looking to buy some cheap perfume! All you have to do is shop around so you can pay less even for quality brands like
Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel or Dior.

In order to continue buying your favourite Yves Saint Laurent perfume or your favourite Dior EDT, you first need to do a bit of research. And if you look in the right places, you will definitely find some great prices on luxury brand perfume! Smiley

Why not start by taking a look at your local high street to research the usual retail prices for luxury perfume? This will give you some idea as to the top end of the price scale and help you to identify just how much you can save when hunting for the best deals.

Online prices are generally cheaper as online stores do not bear the same overheads as their high street cousins. Plus, the Internet is a fast and easy source to compare perfume prices and should be able to help you decide. Chances are you will also encounter clearance sales during your web search where you can pick up some cheap perfume bargains. Smiley

Another option is to try locating stores offering free or cheap perfume samples. Some stores offer small samples of perfumes at a small price, which is a great way to try lots of different scents for a very reasonable price. Your perfume won't last as long if you only have it in a 5ml sample bottle BUT it does make for a relatively inexpensive option! ihikhik

Online auction sites are another good way to pick up cheap perfume although you must do the necessary homework to ensure your purchase comes from a reputable seller who has good feedback as the sale of fakes is a major issue.

As you can see, a little research goes a long way! Just take the time and a put in a little effort to research and scout around for the best cheap perfume deals so you don't have to give up on that favourite Chanel or Yves Saint Laurent perfume! Happy shopping!

Ralph Lauren or Estee Lauder?

So you want to treat yourself to a
scent-sational new perfume but you find yourself torn between two different fragrances? You like the bold fragrance of Ralph Lauren Safari but on the other hand you're leaning towards the traditional classic fragrance Estee Lauder Youth Dew. Which to choose? Let's take a look at each fragrance to help you decide.
Smiley

Ralph Lauren Safari
Launched in 1990 by top perfumer Dominique Ropion, the scent of Ralph Lauren Safari is inspired by the all-American lifestyle. As are many of Ralph Lauren's perfumes, Safari was designed to symbolise the American dream of the spirit of freedom and adventure of the great outdoors; akin to the call to the wild within each of us.

Since its launch in the 1990s, Ralph Lauren Safari has enjoyed considerable success with its floral aroma and light breezy scents of the natural open air. The perfume’s top notes are galbanum, hyacinth and mandarin while the heart of Ralph Lauren Safari is a gorgeous bouquet of lily of the valley, rose, iris and narcissus. Base notes comprise vetiver, tonka bean and moss.

Pure class in a beautiful cut glass bottle, this is a perfume that instantly gels with your body chemistry and smells different on each person making it a very unique personal scent. Made for the confident women who aren't the 'wallflower' type, Ralph Lauren Safari has great staying power and will certainly have people commenting and asking you what your scent is.

Estee Lauder Youth Dew
An absolute classic amongst fragrances, Estee Lauder Youth Dew was created in 1953 by Josephine Catapano. Youth Dew was Estee Lauder's very first perfume and was initially introduced as perfumed bath oil. During the war, perfume was considered to be a luxury item and was not readily available.

Since bath oils were more commonly available, Estee Lauder cleverly created the Youth Dew fragrance in this more accessible form. It was an instant success, which secured Estee Lauder’s name on the luxury brand map.

This captivating perfume has an opulent flower scent with rich spices and woody undertones. Hailed as one of the sexiest fragrances of all time and more than 50 years after it was first launched, Estee Lauder Youth Dew continues to seduce with its timeless and sensual appeal.

Top notes of this extraordinary fragrance include aldehydes, orange, bergamot and peach. The middle notes embody rose, jasmine, cinnamon, cloves, cassia, orchid and ylang-ylang while base notes resonate with vanilla, amber, patchouli, tolu balsam, peru balsam, musk, oakmoss and vetiver. A heady mix!

So which is your type - the timeless, classic nostalgic sophistication of Estee Lauder Youth Dew or the more modern and adventurous but equally classic Safari?

My Perfumes Arrived, Sweet! **

My friend Tasha came back from LA with plenty of goodies for me! I was really counting on her to get me the tote I wanted on my Bath & Body Works scent-sational list but unfortunately the bag is only available with an online purchase. Nonetheless, I am thrilled with the stuff she managed to bring home for me and I know it was not easy to shop for my items so I really have to thank Tasha and Zany too for helping a perfume lover in need! Smiley

I now have three new perfumes to add to my every day use. I only collect miniatures so these regular-size new ones are nicely placed on top of my dresser.

Bath & Body Works® Signature Collection

Butterfly Flower

Inspired by the natural elegance and playful femininity of a butterfly garden in full bloom, master perfumers have blended French mimosa petals, Asian syringa flower, luscious tangerine and tenufolia orchid to create this vibrant fragrance.

Japanese Cherry Blossom
To create this seductive and mysterious floral scent inspired by the exotic gardens of Japan, master perfumers have blended Asian pear, mimosa petals, Kyoto rose and Himalayan cedar wood.

Moonlight Path®

To capture the essence of moonlit strolls in lush gardens, master perfumers have woven notes of French lavender, lily of the valley, oak moss and musk in this deeply romantic fine fragrance.

They all sound heavenly right? Can you guess which of the three is my favourite? I love them all but one simply stands out from the rest and I am saving that bottle for special moments!

Berry Berry Sweet! *

I can't decide which I like better between my two new scents from Victoria's Secret, which came all the way from London by the way, thanks B! I already have Sexy Little Things® Ooh La La Eau de Parfum in my collection but the body lotion makes a nice addition to my perfume gift set.

Berry Kiss and Sweet Daydream come in my favourite shades of purple and
pink respectively; and both scents are tantalizing in their own ways. Berry Kiss for instance is infused with Wild Raspberry, Praline and Rose and smells good enough to eat! A blissful blend of everything sweet, I find this scent delightfully fruity and young whilst maintaining its sexy sophisticated demeanour so I love it! Smileys

And then there's the beautiful pink bottle of Sweet Daydream which combines
a refreshing blend of my favourite scents Apple, Raspberry and Vanilla. Perfect for day wear, this sweet elixir of love will keep you intoxicatingly sweet and fresh as a daisy! Smileys

It's been a while since I got something new from VS so I am going to spend my weekend testing and sorting out my latest scents at Mariuca's Perfume Gallery. Until my next post, thanks for reading and have a scent-sational weekend!

My Perfumes Arrived!

Hi guys! Do you remember the post I wrote several months back, about my friend T, who was planning a vacation to New York? Naturally, I was green with envy (who wouldn't be right?) since I'd love to visit New York again. The last time I visited New York, was so many years ago, when a couple of girlfriends came to visit me during my university days in Philly. So naturally, the idea of her having so much fun in NY without yours truly was something to be envious about! ;)
I gave T a list of perfumes I wanted from NY. If I could not get myself to NY, the least I could do was to get her to go on a perfume shopping spree on my behalf! Most of them were from Victoria's Secret as I wanted to make things easier for her by sticking to only one location. To make a long story short, she recently came back from her trip and the first thing she passed to B (they're working together) was my perfume set YAY!

Unfortunately, the Must-have Eau de Parfum Gift Box I originally wanted was completely out of stock when she arrived. That just goes to show how much that particular set was in demand SIGH! Nonetheless, I am so grateful to her for purchasing a replacement for me (pic above). There are 12 different scents including Ooh La la, which you can see right at the bottom right corner of MPG, spritzing its scent-sational scent for your comfort and pleasure here. I have yet to try them but they do look superb sweetly nestled in the lovely pink box right? I don't really know when I will actually use my new perfumes, but just having them surrounding me here at Mariuca's Perfume Gallery is enough to make me smile! Thanks so much T, love ya! :)

Okay peeps I am going to spend some time with my lovely scents now but to keep you guys entertained, I am leaving you this link to this new internet casino I discovered. If you're feeling a little stressed out right now with work, blogging or whatever is going on in your personal life, a little excitement online might help alleviate the stress yeah? Have fun! :)

Emila Visits MPG! *

Like I mentioned over at my other blog, the lovely Emila paid me a visit several days back! She also brought along the leather notepad and handmade pencil from Tioman Island, which I won in her last contest, thank you Emila! :)

Aside from finally meeting my fluffy kids, it was also her first visit to my home office, which is where Mariuca's Perfume Gallery is located. I happily gave Emila a "tour" of my perfume gallery and I daresay she was pretty impressed with my collection too YAY! Now all this just makes me feel like going on another perfume shopping spree to add some new scents to my gallery. I'm still searching for a Black Jeans miniature by Versace because as you can see in the picture below, that is the only one missing to complete my Versace Jeans collection. Oh and I'm still missing a Yellow Jeans too! Apparently, these two minis are rather difficult to find. Anybody feel like contributing their Black Jeans or Yellow Jean mini to add to Mariuca's Perfume Gallery here? LOL!

It was FUN having Emila visit my home office and MPG too. She quickly hopped over to Wishing On A Falling Star using my new pink laptop and even commented on my latest post, from my workplace ha ha!

And now, let me give you a visual update on my latest purchase or rather gifts from B.
Ahhhhhh so many new mini perfumes to add to Mariuca's Perfume Gallery! I seriously think that perfume is the best gift choice for me because no matter what perfume you decide to give me, I'd surely love it, especially if it comes with a miniature version to add to my gallery! :)

So after arranging my new perfumes at my perfume gallery, the final count to date is a whopping 118 miniature perfumes YAY! I wonder what the figure will be on my next update. Until then, enjoy the heavenly scents you see here and have a scent-sational weekend! :)

Sensuous Samsara

A perfume can either enhance your natural scent with its own unique fragrance OR go the complete opposite and turn you into Stinkor! Unfortunately for a college friend of mine (let's call her J), the latter was what happened to her! ;)

From what I observed back in college, J had naturally oily skin and complexion. Add to this, the B.O. problem she had, whatever perfume she wore just didn't come off right! There was one particular perfume, which she wore almost daily - Samsara it was called. I thought it had a very p
retty name, but the way it smelled on her was simply nauseating! At the risk of sounding cruel or bitchy, I tell you no lies when I say that every time she walked past me, it took all my willpower to stop breathing, while keeping a straight face! :(

It was only years after college, when we had separated ways and I hardly see J anymore, that one fine day...while shopping in a mall, I chanced upon Samsara again. Until today I'm not sure what made me stop at the Guerlain counter to ask the saleslady for a spray on my wrist. I was expecting Samsara to smell as terrible on me as it did on J, but to my utter amazement, it was the exact opposite! Samsara smelled absolutely divine on me (if I do say so myself!) and it was love at first scent for Mariuca!

Introduced by Jean-Paul Guerlain back in 1989, Samsara was created at the request of his beloved muse, Decia de Powell*, whose two favourite scents were sandalwood and jasmine. Samsara is also a Sanskrit mantra, which means "the eternal search for unattainable perfection". Classified as a refined, oriental, woody fragrance, Samsara is an ultra-feminine and sensual scent that combines bergamot, rose, narcissus, amber, violet and ylang ylang with a touch of vanilla and tonka bean. Beautifully captured in an equally hot red bottle, Samsara has the beauty and the power to evoke a sense of sensuality and serenity from deep within, bringing you to a heightened sense of tantalizing bliss, bordering on your very own state of Nirvana!

Recommended for evening wear, Samsara is suitable for all star signs with the exception of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius*.

My Scented List

I gave Sher a list of things I wanted from her on this trip to New York. To make things easier for her, I decided to focus only on Victoria's Secret. I usually go for VS Body Mist, but this time around I wanted to enjoy their perfumes instead. Here are my two favorite items on my list, which I hope she can easily find. By the way, I allocated RM600 for this shopping trip but I don't feel totally bad about it. I mean, I hardly splurge on anything for myself here anyway. Plus, all the stuff on my list can only be found in US so I definitely should take advantage of this opportunity to do a little shopping abroad! ;)

I can't wait for Sher to come home next week; I wonder if she managed to get everything on my list! Next, I have to prepare my list for B since he's off to Tokyo sometime soon. More scents and shopping for me, thanks to Sher and B! :)
