Perfume Hunting!

Perfume makes a woman so it's no wonder many of us continue buying perfume even when times are hard and money is short. Some become attached to one particular scent and feel that this is their 'signature' perfume whilst others simply feel that perfume is a simple way to feel attractive and alluring. senyumkenyit

Lately, many of us are tightening our belts due to the current economic situation. We are spending less on luxuries such as beauty products, make-up and perfume. Don’t despair for there are still some real bargains out there, particularly if you're looking to buy some cheap perfume! All you have to do is shop around so you can pay less even for quality brands like
Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel or Dior.

In order to continue buying your favourite Yves Saint Laurent perfume or your favourite Dior EDT, you first need to do a bit of research. And if you look in the right places, you will definitely find some great prices on luxury brand perfume! Smiley

Why not start by taking a look at your local high street to research the usual retail prices for luxury perfume? This will give you some idea as to the top end of the price scale and help you to identify just how much you can save when hunting for the best deals.

Online prices are generally cheaper as online stores do not bear the same overheads as their high street cousins. Plus, the Internet is a fast and easy source to compare perfume prices and should be able to help you decide. Chances are you will also encounter clearance sales during your web search where you can pick up some cheap perfume bargains. Smiley

Another option is to try locating stores offering free or cheap perfume samples. Some stores offer small samples of perfumes at a small price, which is a great way to try lots of different scents for a very reasonable price. Your perfume won't last as long if you only have it in a 5ml sample bottle BUT it does make for a relatively inexpensive option! ihikhik

Online auction sites are another good way to pick up cheap perfume although you must do the necessary homework to ensure your purchase comes from a reputable seller who has good feedback as the sale of fakes is a major issue.

As you can see, a little research goes a long way! Just take the time and a put in a little effort to research and scout around for the best cheap perfume deals so you don't have to give up on that favourite Chanel or Yves Saint Laurent perfume! Happy shopping!

Ralph Lauren or Estee Lauder?

So you want to treat yourself to a
scent-sational new perfume but you find yourself torn between two different fragrances? You like the bold fragrance of Ralph Lauren Safari but on the other hand you're leaning towards the traditional classic fragrance Estee Lauder Youth Dew. Which to choose? Let's take a look at each fragrance to help you decide.
Smiley

Ralph Lauren Safari
Launched in 1990 by top perfumer Dominique Ropion, the scent of Ralph Lauren Safari is inspired by the all-American lifestyle. As are many of Ralph Lauren's perfumes, Safari was designed to symbolise the American dream of the spirit of freedom and adventure of the great outdoors; akin to the call to the wild within each of us.

Since its launch in the 1990s, Ralph Lauren Safari has enjoyed considerable success with its floral aroma and light breezy scents of the natural open air. The perfume’s top notes are galbanum, hyacinth and mandarin while the heart of Ralph Lauren Safari is a gorgeous bouquet of lily of the valley, rose, iris and narcissus. Base notes comprise vetiver, tonka bean and moss.

Pure class in a beautiful cut glass bottle, this is a perfume that instantly gels with your body chemistry and smells different on each person making it a very unique personal scent. Made for the confident women who aren't the 'wallflower' type, Ralph Lauren Safari has great staying power and will certainly have people commenting and asking you what your scent is.
ihikhik

Estee Lauder Youth Dew
An absolute classic amongst fragrances, Estee Lauder Youth Dew was created in 1953 by Josephine Catapano. Youth Dew was Estee Lauder's very first perfume and was initially introduced as perfumed bath oil. During the war, perfume was considered to be a luxury item and was not readily available.

Since bath oils were more commonly available, Estee Lauder cleverly created the Youth Dew fragrance in this more accessible form. It was an instant success, which secured Estee Lauder’s name on the luxury brand map.

This captivating perfume has an opulent flower scent with rich spices and woody undertones. Hailed as one of the sexiest fragrances of all time and more than 50 years after it was first launched, Estee Lauder Youth Dew continues to seduce with its timeless and sensual appeal.
senyumkenyit

Top notes of this extraordinary fragrance include aldehydes, orange, bergamot and peach. The middle notes embody rose, jasmine, cinnamon, cloves, cassia, orchid and ylang-ylang while base notes resonate with vanilla, amber, patchouli, tolu balsam, peru balsam, musk, oakmoss and vetiver. A heady mix!

So which is your type - the timeless, classic nostalgic sophistication of Estee Lauder Youth Dew or the more modern and adventurous but equally classic Safari?

And the Winner is...***

Hello everybody! It's finally my birthday today so that means my perfume contest has come to an end! Are you as excited as I am to find out who won the Versace Green Jeans perfume?
gelakguling
Okay but first let me reveal the total number of perfumes I now have on display at Mariuca's Perfume Gallery. Based on my hint, you already know that my last count was 118. But that was like last year. I wish I could have bought more perfumes but if you follow my blog than you will also know that I only buy my miniature perfumes when there's a new one that I DO NOT already own in my collection. So even though I sometimes see many delightful mini fragrances on sale, I don't buy them if I already have that particular scent. Each scent in my collection is different so you might be surprised to know that from November (which was my last count) until now, I only bought 12 new mini perfumes, which means the current total perfumes I now have in Mariuca's Perfume Gallery is 130! ihikhik

I had 3 bloggers with the same exact guess of
130, which I thought was fantastic! Unfortunately there can only be one winner so I did a random draw at random.org and my winner is........... LADYJAVA!!!! peluk

CONGRATULATIONS to LadyJava who's also a huge MPG Fan by the way! Your prize will be coming your way soon LJ! tepuktangan

I'd also like to thank everybody who took part in my contest. Many of you were pretty close with
129 but we had three persons who guessed exactly 130 so great work peeps! I hope you had fun and keep a lookout for my next contest, perhaps at Meow Diaries? fikir

My Perfume Addiction

Some people take to the bottle for comfort. Others enjoy a puff or two on their nicotine break. My not so secret addiction however lies in my passion and craze for shopping, specifically perfumes. I adore perfume! It's been my passion since I was a little girl and the addiction keeps on growing, year by year.

A typical perfume relapse begins with a smile when I discover a new perfume store. With ambience this cosy and decor this pretty, it's hard not to be enticed by the store sign, so in we go!
ihikhik

Follow me downstairs as we check out what's waiting for me down below. I feel an automatic adrenaline rush, as more addicts do when they know their fix is coming soon!

The sight of all the lovely scent-sational perfume bottles, in all their splendid glory immediately excites my senses and I am in perfume haven. I can spend hours inside a perfume store, savouring each scent and admiring the beautiful bottles they come in. rindu

I am engrossed and in my delicious deliriousness, I end up buying more than I had come for. But that's how an addiction is. It's hard to stop yourself from wanting more! gelakguling

I ended up with two of these lovely beauties and only then, did I happily leave the store; content with my perfume fix as I wait for another relapse when I discover yet another new perfume store.

I still say my addiction is much better than those hard-core addictions so there is no urgency or need for me to enroll in one of those anonymous recovery groups just yet. If you however have an addiction you would like to overcome, do give InTheRooms Meetings a visit.

Providing the most current database of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Overeaters Anonymous (OA), and Gamblers Anonymous (GA) meetings, addicts of the above-mentioned now have a place to seek help and guidance on how your addiction can be overcome with the help and support of those in similar seats. Join In The Rooms and get to know a new supportive community where you can share, communicate and gain strength and hope to fight whatever addiction you're struggling with. Registration is FREE!

Handbag or Perfume?

Unlike most girls who just can't get enough of handbags, I find myself more drawn to perfume purchases. Don't get me wrong for I do love handbag shopping once in a while. I usually buy handbags when I feel the need for one so it's more of a practical purchase for me rather than a luxury buy.
siul

Let's say I have to choose one out of the two items you see below. First is a lovely Miss Martini striped flap Dolce & Gabbana handbag. Though not an avid bag collector, I do need a new one and this one comes in classic black, which makes it perfect. The last nice new handbag I bought was the COACH bag in Bandung and that was last year so a cool new handbag sounds tempting right now!
fikir

On the other hand, we have the mesmerizing bottle of Luscious Pink Mariah Carey perfume. Not only is Mariah my favourite diva, but she now owns her own range of signature perfumes by Elizabeth Arden! Having your own scent is the ultimate form of divadom I'd say and this just makes owning a bottle of Mariah's magical scent all the more necessary! I mean what kind of a Mariah or perfume fan would I be if I did NOT have this scent-sational scent here at Mariuca's Perfume Gallery right?
malu

So you see, it's all about perfumes with me. I don't know what it is about perfumes, but adding a new bottle to my already expansive perfume collection seems to make me smile wider than having a new practical handbag which I actually need! ihikhik

Hmmm, all this perfume talk makes me want to go on another perfume shopping spree! How appropriate that B and I made plans to go shopping tomorrow. Wonder what's in store for me at my favourite perfume counter, I can't wait! gelakguling

Sensuous Samsara

A perfume can either enhance your natural scent with its own unique fragrance OR go the complete opposite and turn you into Stinkor! Unfortunately for a college friend of mine (let's call her J), the latter was what happened to her! ;)

From what I observed back in college, J had naturally oily skin and complexion. Add to this, the B.O. problem she had, whatever perfume she wore just didn't come off right! There was one particular perfume, which she wore almost daily - Samsara it was called. I thought it had a very p
retty name, but the way it smelled on her was simply nauseating! At the risk of sounding cruel or bitchy, I tell you no lies when I say that every time she walked past me, it took all my willpower to stop breathing, while keeping a straight face! :(

It was only years after college, when we had separated ways and I hardly see J anymore, that one fine day...while shopping in a mall, I chanced upon Samsara again. Until today I'm not sure what made me stop at the Guerlain counter to ask the saleslady for a spray on my wrist. I was expecting Samsara to smell as terrible on me as it did on J, but to my utter amazement, it was the exact opposite! Samsara smelled absolutely divine on me (if I do say so myself!) and it was love at first scent for Mariuca!

Introduced by Jean-Paul Guerlain back in 1989, Samsara was created at the request of his beloved muse, Decia de Powell*, whose two favourite scents were sandalwood and jasmine. Samsara is also a Sanskrit mantra, which means "the eternal search for unattainable perfection". Classified as a refined, oriental, woody fragrance, Samsara is an ultra-feminine and sensual scent that combines bergamot, rose, narcissus, amber, violet and ylang ylang with a touch of vanilla and tonka bean. Beautifully captured in an equally hot red bottle, Samsara has the beauty and the power to evoke a sense of sensuality and serenity from deep within, bringing you to a heightened sense of tantalizing bliss, bordering on your very own state of Nirvana!

Recommended for evening wear, Samsara is suitable for all star signs with the exception of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius*.
